Beef Liver Supplements: Giving our Body Real Food.
A year and half ago when I decided to take control of my health, I emptied my cupboards of all my supplements. Well actually I kept a few I spent way too much on because I couldn’t quite let them go yet. But I stopped taking everything, because I had gotten to a point where I did not know what was working and what wasn’t. I knew I needed something to nourish my body. It was not in optimal shape inside, let alone outside.
I had been reading a lot about liver and organ meats and how they were beneficial for you. But was this just another fad? I had to dig a little further. When you start to see that not too many generations ago, liver was a part of the average family’s meal plan. Looking at the meals of our ancestors, one realizes the real food they ate. We aren’t so far removed from that, yet the results are in. This current diet we are all on, is failing. I’ll save that for another day…
Beef liver has so many benefits for you. These are some of the great nutrients, vitamins and minerals found in beef liver:
- Source of Protein
- Vitamin A
- High Content of All B Vitamins, including B12
- Potent Source of Folate (B9)
- Copper, Zinc, and Chromium
Beef liver can help boost your metabolism and give you energy. I’ve even heard of stories of cycles and infertility problems disappearing. Better sleep, and improved mood are just a few of the improvements. Could this be the miracle we’ve all been waiting for?
No. But it works because it’s real food. It’s not a miracle. It’s just what our body needs and has been depleted of for so long.
So I went on a search to find some beef liver. Our neighbour raises grass fed beef cattle, so I visited him. I bought 6 pounds of beef liver, because why do something small, when you can go big? (This is exactly why I forced myself to do one thing at a time this year. My habit of jumping all in, isn’t always the best)
I sliced the beef liver up into small pieces and froze them individually. The next morning I took two pieces out of the bag and swallowed them followed by orange juice. It was more the texture that took a moment to get over than any taste. But they were down there. And I kept going. To say I saw instant results, would not be true for me. Not to say that they weren’t happening, I think that my body needed so much repair from stress, and chronic illness I didn’t know I was dealing with at the time.
But I kept at it, because I believed it could work. And I knew it was real food so it couldn’t hurt. That’s the beauty I’ve learned about using real food to heal. It can’t do much if any damage. It may not make things better exponentially but it won’t make it worse.
Over time though I began to see changes in my mood. I realized I wasn’t as tired all day. I felt more steady in my emotions and patience. I decided I needed to try this on one of my family members to see if these results were real. There was one of us in particular I knew could use the benefit of beef liver, but I knew they wouldn’t swallow the beef liver whole.. So I searched and came across Perfect Supplements.
I chose to buy their “Perfect Desiccated Beef Liver” from the Perfect Supplements Brand. Their website says:
“Perfect Desiccated Liver is obtained solely from healthy free range cattle that feed exclusively on rapidly growing green grass that sprouts from rich Argentinean soil. Perfect cows are raised entirely free of hormones and never come into contact with pesticides, or any other chemical substances.”
With their non-GMO, gluten free, pasture raised, glyphosate free products, I knew I was on track with a good product. We have switched over to the powder form and pill form in our family because we have had such good results with this product. We’ve had hair stop falling out, better sleep, improved mood, healthier skin, stronger hair, and better digestion all as a result of adding beef liver into our lives.
This is one supplement I won’t ever do without. I might try making my own one day. But for now this is simple and less time consuming and I trust this product.
This began my journey of looking back. What did our ancestors do? Yes, surely there were methods used generations ago that are not as beneficial as some are today. But the more I live the more I’m beginning to believe more often than not, the old way is the better way. I guess time will truly tell.
